Earth Day Eve Cleanup 4/21/24

You’re invited to the Earth Day Eve Community Cleanup this weekend!

Clean up litter in downtown Utica or any location you choose for Earth Day! Learn more about the Trash to Treasure Art Challenge and meet other participants (see below for more info)

What to expect: 

·  Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes! Rain or shine, we will be handing out free supplies for cleaning up litter from 1-3pm at the Utica Vintage Club including high-visibility vests, garbage bags, and gloves. 

·  Please bring your bags of garbage back to Utica Vintage Club for disposal! This will help us track our cleanup impact and ensure all trash collected is disposed properly. At 3pm, we will meet in front of Liberty Bell Park (Genesee Street & Lafayette Street) for a group photo!

Open Call for Artists: Trash to Treasure Art Challenge

Choose a place in Utica, NY to clean up litter and then create a work of art incorporating trash or found objects from your cleanup. A group exhibition in July 2024 will showcase a selection of works and offer space for community members to participate in discussions about the environment.

Project submission deadline: May 31, 2024

Submit documentation of your cleanup and photos of your project by the deadline to be considered for inclusion in the group exhibition. A selection of submitted works will be chosen for the Trash to Treasure Group Gallery Exhibition, and exhibiting artists or groups will receive a stipend of $100.
