As we look back on all that we’ve accomplished in 2024, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support this past year. We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for us as we continue to seek out opportunities to connect with our community, create art, and expand the impact of creative reuse in our region.
Upcoming Events
Learn new ways to reuse and keep stuff out of the landfill at one of our free workshops! This month, we will be teaching you how to upcycle your nice cardboard boxes using fabric decoupage and continuing our series of Repair Cafes, where you can learn to repair your broken household electrical appliances with assistance from experienced instructors.

2024 Recycling Champions
We are honored to have been named the 2024 Recycling Champion by the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, an achievement that would not have been possible without the incredible support of our donors, volunteers, and visitors who have embraced our mission of environmental stewardship through participation in our programs and events. Our community inspires us every day with their innovation and commitment to creating meaningful change!
Thank you to Amy Roth at the Utica Observer-Dispatch for her article about the award and our work: Waste Authority Recycling Champion: Utica nonprofit helps unwanted stuff become art.

Did you know? The Authority offers lots of information on their website about reuse, recycling, and reducing waste. Learn more about their special programs and resources, such as:
- the EcoDrop in Utica or Rome for quick and safe disposal of items like household hazardous waste, paint, fluorescent lightbulbs, and electronics
- Building Deconstruction Tips for salvaging usable materials from building projects!
- OHSWA’s Food2Energy facility
- Find other local reuse options
New Reuse Resources On Our Website
Check out the resources available in the newly updated Reuse Resources section of our website. Explore crafts, tutorials, and artists that employ creative reuse, as well as examples of work created by our community members highlighted in our Featured Work Gallery.
We have also created an index of resources for a wide variety of repair services offered locally in Central New York. Our Local Resource Guide for Repairs is a dynamic list that we will be continuously updating as needed. If you know of a place that offers repair services that we can add, please send us a message!
