- Thursday 8/13, 6pm – 8pm: Knitting 101 Learn the knit stitch and start a scarf in plenty of time for the holidays!
Register for this FREE EVENT - Wednesday 8/19, 6pm – 8pm: How to Cut Matboard Learn how to cut matboard for framing!
Register for this FREE EVENT - Saturday 8/22, 11am – 1pm: Sensory Play Group Take a field trip to the Chancellor Park Splash Pad and explore multiple stations of sensory play spaces made of upcycled materials. This event is geared towards 2 – 5 year olds, but kids of all ages are welcome!
RSVP for this FREE EVENT - Thursday 8/27, 6pm-8pm: Repair Café Bring something that is broken or needs mending. Sign up to volunteer, or register to get something fixed!
Donations of Art Supplies
Thanks to our hard-working volunteers, we are again ready to received donations on Fridays, starting this Friday, August 7! Please contact us if you have any questions about donations. We truly appreciate your support and thank you for your commitment to creating access to sustainable art supplies in our community!
Donation Guidelines
Donation Hours: Fridays, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Address: 734 Columbia Street, Utica, NY 13502.
- Please check our list of accepted materials before donating your items. (Don’t see something on our list, but think it’ll make a good donation? Contact us!)
- We respectfully request that items donated are in good condition, clean, and organized. This helps your items find a new home as fast as possible!
- For the health and safety of our volunteers, please inspect your items prior to donation for bugs, mold, dirt, etc. We can only accept clean, usable materials.
- Please check in with a volunteer before donating your items. Please do not leave donations outside!
- If you have a large donation, please contact us ahead of time to discuss! We have limited storage capacity on site.
Volunteer Appreciation
Our art supply thrift shop is run by volunteers. Thank you to the more than 30 volunteers who have contributed over 1,000 hours working hard to support our organization so far in 2026; repairing broken items for community members, picking up trash, and sorting through donations so that pre-loved art supplies can find new homes!

New Discount for Teachers!
Teachers, we see how much care you put into your lessons and learning environments, and we truly appreciate the work you do in our community! Starting in August, you can now receive a 20% discount on all purchases for your classroom at Utica Creative Reuse when you show your school teacher’s ID.

Our bag sale in July raised over $1,500! Financial donations and proceeds from our thrift shop sales cover the costs associated with our classes and events, so students can learn for free! We’re proud to have a sustainable way to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to learn something new. Thank you for helping us make more art happen in CNY!
